Lazar Zivanovic and Lazar Vasic, National team basketball players and students of the third and second grade of our school, achieved admirable success at the European Cadet Championship in Bar. They won the third place and bronze medal.

We discussed about the significance of this competition with Lazar Zivanovic, his impressions, as well as his first basketball steps:

  1. When did you start playing basketball?

I began playing basketball when I started primary school, at the age 6. By the age of 10, it was all about entertainment, but then I decided that basketball was something that fulfilled me and that I wanted to continue playing seriously.

  1. Which teams did you meet on your way to the bronze medal?

We opened the tournament by winning against a very good selection of Lithuania; then we played against Israel, twice against Croatia, Spain, Germany, and Montenegro.

  1. What are your impressions of this competition?

Lazar Vasic and I also participated in the European Cadet Championship last year as the youngest players, and we were a part of a team that did not achieve a notable result. This year’s impressions are quite different. We are very happy to have represented our country in a proper way and to have been able to put up with the pressure of wearing Serbian jersey. We achieved the main goal – placing at the World Cup U17 that will be held in Argentina next year. Every day spent with the other ten guys and great coaching staff was a real pleasure and we are looking forward to putting on a national jersey again.
